Zelenskyy Urges Urgent Start to Patriot Missile Production in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed the urgent need for Ukraine to commence domestic production of Patriot interceptor missiles, after securing political approval from US President Donald Trump during the recent NATO summit in Ankara, Turkiye. Zelenskyy’s call comes as Ukraine faces a critical shortage of these defensive missiles amid ongoing conflict.

Speaking to the press shortly after his return from the NATO meeting, Zelenskyy emphasized that while political permission has been granted, practical steps must be taken swiftly. Although Ukraine has continuously received donations of Patriot missiles from its allies, Zelenskyy noted that global supplies are dwindling and that the rate at which Ukraine deploys these interceptors currently outpaces the production capacity in the United States.
